About Duchy of Cornwall Nursery
Originally a slate quarry, the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery began life producing forest trees in the late 1960s. It started to sell plants to the public in 1974 and went on to become one of the largest and most well-respected nurseries in the South West of England. The nursery has grown a great deal since it began over 50 years ago. After further transformations since 2011, today, it is a place of sanctuary for every visitor, where horticulture is celebrated, and nature is allowed to flourish.

How Signetor Delivered
Signetor takes the Duchy data and preformed a data quality check to eliminate duplicate records, unprintable characters and white spaces. Data files supplied were (i) product master file with some products having multiple barcodes were set up as aliases to the primary barcode allowing all to be scanned. (ii) the stock on hand file.The garden centre was subdivided by department. A count area barcode was created for each department. This allowed department valuations as well as total stock value. Barcode staff badges were provided allowing full traceability of who scanned and counted each product in every location.
7 scanners were set up and shipped to the client site. Onsite training was provided to garden centre staff undertaking the stocktake. Support was provided during the stocktake with the ability to remotely connect to all the scanners. When the count was completed Signetor produced a suite of reports showing actual verses expected variation, stock values by department and staff scanning performance.The Signetor system & support allowed the Duchy Garden Centre to achieve a robust count in the timeframes they set themselves, despite the doubling of retail space. The reporting and audit trail provided the required controls.
