How Signetor Delivered
For the set up Signetor took the product master file and produced the labels required for each branch. Signetor visited each branch to train them on the stocktake system and work with each local team put up the new barcode shelf labels prior to the stocktake. The overwhelming response from all branches was the new labels were easier to read than the previous IMS produced labels.
To undertake the stocktake Signetor set up 35 scanners and shipped the required number to each of the 11 branches. Barcode staff badges were provided allowing a full traceability of who scanned and counted each product. On the day of the stocktake Signetor was able to remotely support all branches by remotely connecting to each scanner, providing quick issue resolution. By using the scanners Engweld stocktake time was reduced by 30-40% saving time and cost.
On the day of the count the expected stock on hand file was loaded allowing us to report the total count for each branch and variation between actual and expected stock quantities. The reports also produced export format allowing updated stock levels to be upload into the ERP system. This reduced the stock level entry process to 15 minutes, saving time, getting them open for trading sooner and saving the staff from manual data entry.
The cost savings in stocktake time and data upload allow the Signetor service to pay for itself. The stocktake is now approached seriously but without the fear associated with the previous manual processes.
