Identify Everything with Barcode Scanning
Inventory Identification
Most retail stock items come with barcodes which can easily be added to the system for scanning, however in Business-2-Business sectors many products still do not have barcodes. Barcodes can be created and printed for each product or for shelf labels. Multiple barcodes can be stored against each SKU allowing both manufacturer and system generated barcodes to be scanned and recognised by the mobile scanning application. Once scanned and identified the quantity can be entered.
Asset Identification
Existing asset barcodes can be scanned, or asset barcodes can be printed dynamically as required and applied to items. All items within the asset database can be passed to the mobile barcode scanning app allowing items to be scanned and identified.
Staff Identification
The Signetor online system can create and print staff ID badges with barcodes. These badges can then be scanned by the mobile barcode scanning app to ensure full traceability of who has done every scan.
Location Identification
Locations can be subdivided into the most logical sub-divisions for your business needs. Typically, this is a building, a room, a racking bay, a vehicle but it can be any division of location required. Locations are set up in the online system, printed as labels or as A4 paper catalogues and sent to the mobile barcode scanning application. When scanned this identifies where a product or asset is currently located or where it is to be moved to.
By capturing inventory, asset, staff and location barcodes, the scanning application delivers full traceability of who did the scan, where the product or asset was counted and at what date and time the scan was made. By recording this information during each product or asset count a full audit trail is provided.
Mobile Scanner Functions
The scanning application multiple functions that can be switched on or off as required for each job.
For inventory stocktake solutions the available functions are Stocktake, Recount 1 and Recount 2. This allows for the initial count and up to 2 recounts by each product and location.
For inventory management applications the functions are Receipt, Return, Issue and Scrap. This provides the flexibility to manage inventory where it is found without needing to carry separate laptop and scanning device.
For asset management the functionality available is to Asset Count or Asset Write Off. Allowing assets to be managed easily across large buildings, warehouses and campus environments.

Product Barcodes Supported
- Retail Barcodes: GTIN 8, GTIN 12, GTIN 13, EAN13, EAN8
- Trade Barcodes: GTIN 14
- Multi-Attribute Barcodes:
- GS-128 1D & GS1 Data Matrix. Typically found in healthcare, pharmacy and starting to appear on electronic products.
- Health Industry Barcodes (HIBC) scan both Part Number, Expiry Dates, Lot / serial Number.
Signetor mobile barcode scanning application can scan and decode both GS-128 and HIBC multi attribute barcodes into their separate elements of product identifier, serial number, lot number, expiry date and pack quantity. Additional attributes can be decoded if required.
